As the Victorian cotton and woolen mills closed throughout the industrial North of England and Scotland over the last 40 years the antique wooden bobbins and shuttles left behind have been transformed into original wooden items.

This bobbin sand timer has pewter accents with pleasing natural sand. The sand glass is hand-blown. A vintage thread spool sticker is placed on the base to give it even more character.

As with all antique and hand-made items, the colors and decorations vary slightly. We consider this to be a special part of their history and character.

Purchased for my husbands office and it looks great. It’s so different, not the same old hourglass that everyone else sells. Love the look. Couldn’t decide between black sand or natural, may have to buy both. 😃
