This custom Signature Collection hourglass is handcrafted from solid cocobolo wood grown in Central America. A beautiful wood, it's denseness makes it very strong and durable and it finishes very smoothly. The color is a variegated yellow-orange, dark red with irregular black stripes. Like all wood cocobolo varies in graining and color - with some hourglasses the black stripes are more prominent, in others the yellow-orange color is more prominent. No two are alike. Combined with glass bulbs hand-blown in England, this classic piece is stunning.

As with all wood each piece will vary slightly in graining and color making each hourglass unique. Hourglasses are handmade so sizes are approximate.

Offered in 3 sizes - 4"D x 6"H, 6"D x 10"H or 8"D x 12"H
Available fully assembled (as shown) or in kit form.
Fully assembled have 5 or 15 minute timers in the 4x6 size, 60 or 50 minutes in the 6x10 size, and 60 minutes in the 8x12 size.
Kits are available with two options:

You assemble, no sand - for customers who want to add their own sand (i.e. two different colors). Note: globe provided has a larger hole to accommodate different types of sand so timer accuracy is not ensured.
You assemble, sand included - for customers who want a more accurate hourglass. The natural sand you see pictured comes with your kit (not available with all options).

Wedding gift to bride

I bought the fill-it-with-sand-and-assemble-yourself kit so that my wife and I could fill the hourglass with sand from our honeymoon. The hourglass kit came with all required parts and detailed, complete instructions for assembly. You could tell that the author had actually assembled these hourglasses before with care and wanted customers to be successful by including a lot of helpful tips (keeping out moisture, using a deadblow hammer to avoid wood damage, etc.). Those touches made assembly painless and professional in quality. The glass hourglass itself was symmetric and strong, and the wood components feel durable and look beautiful.

I received excellent customer support in completing the order with the engraving I wanted and getting the order shipped on time to make the wedding day.

Overall, I was very pleased from start to finish, and I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a unique memorable gift.

i purchased the cocobolo hourglass to fill with our own sand from a place we consider to be very important. I could not have been more pleased. The craftsmanship is high quality, as evidenced by both the beautiful appearance and the ease of assembly. It fit together perfectly. The plate we ordered with engraving is beautiful and, to our surprise, it is inset in the top piece of wood rather than glued on top. While it would have been easy to beat the price of a fillable hourglass, I do not think that the quality and beauty of this piece could have been beaten. It was worth every penny-and with our sand, it will be a family heirloom handed down generations to come. We are thrilled. Thank you to the extremely helpful staff for your assistance.
